before the farm sold i had a large steel table that was mounted to the rock wall in the "shop" building i could weld what every i wanted to the table or drill and bolt so i was able to use lots of things to bend bar around if it kinks and you have to redo it fill the tube with sand its harder to bend but the sand acts like a manderl and makes it harder to kink
do not use conduit for your tube as its not very strong and all of it is galvanized and that makes 2 issues to weld it you need special rod or wire and you need to be very ventailated as the gas is toxic when you weld galavanized

The sand trick is one that has been used for bending pipe for a long time, you might need to cap the ends first so the sand stays in there.
I've brazed on a lot of galvanized pipe, works pretty well, but you are right it is not real strong.
