Just got this new to me scooter a couple days ago and I am really excited with getting it running. It needs the stator assy, rectifier (voltage regulator) and thermostat. The previous owner could not pay over $300 to have the local dealer diagnose it and then could not afford to fix it. I picked it up as-is for cheap. It came with the list of parts it needs with part numbers. I have the owners manual, service manual and parts manual with schematics.
I currently have a 2008 Jonway 150cc and 2007 250cc tourer scooters that I love. Both have taught me a ton about scooters. They just are not freeway friendly for my large size. I am 6'3", 350lbs. Yes, I played football...lol. The Hyosung is fuel injected, 4-valve, twin cam goodness with 25hp. 9 more than my Chino 250cc.
I must mention that I am coming from another scooter website that I learned a lot from but the drama was just too much. I am happy to see Terra Nuvo here and a few more. I hope to mesh right in and learn more and maybe share some of my experiences. This Hyosung is my biggest project to date and the scariest.
I hope to meet other people who have owned or currently owns one of these scooters. I read a thread here that was done in 2009 about a Hyosung 250 owner and it was very informative.
I am looking for 2 things straight away.
1. The only mods I wanna do to this scooter is improve air flow (nothing available as of yet), CVT tune/clutch (MRP has the parts I need) and exhaust. It is the slip-on type exhaust so I hope to find a muffler that will work once I find the header pipe size. Any ideas or experience with these mods?
2. Meeting other scooter owners who enjoy these awesome machines as much as I do. Especially Hyosung owners, past or present.
I have thourghly researched all the positive and negative points of owning one of these scooters and I am replacing the parts that are in question, like ALL hoses and the starter clutch.
here is a picture of my scooter before the tear-down.
My 2008 150cc. I have none of my new 250cc Chino scooter as of yet. The dark red 2010 Ford Superduty in the background is my other ride. Twin turbo diesel all the way!
