I have hooked up a trailer to my Yamaha C3, thought I'd post some pictures, perhaps inspire someone else. This is a bicycle trailer with a common hitch arrangement, intended to bolt on the rear axle of a bike. So, hitch arrangement. Pretty straight-forward, just swap out the lower bolt for the rear shock with a slightly longer one. Add some locking washers and tighten it all down. This should work for most scooters, just make sure the trailer arm is long enough that it doesn't interfere with the scooter in turns. And the finished product: This trailer is amazingly stable and tracks very well. 40mph is no problem, but I try to stay around 35 to avoid undue attention from local law enforcement. Speaking of law, around here this is semi-legal; I am supposed to have break lights and blinkers on it, which I don't at the moment. Just a red position light and some reflexes.

Hey Swede is there a joint that allows the hitch to articulate?

RD, yes there is a joint that allows a sufficent degree of free motion.

I don't think it would be legal at all in the USA, bicycle tires are probably not rated for highway, perhaps it would work for surface streets around town.

It's a good idea but you better take it slow on the turns with that thing cause if it jack knifes it'll snap that alloy shock mount right off the belt case and the rest won't be pretty. That mount is designed to handle the scooter moving up and down, not for sideways or twisting pressure.
Here in cali all trailers have to be registered just like a car and they have to have tail, brake, and side marker lights.

Rebel, keep in mind this is a 50cc and the law I was referring to only applies for such scooters. For anything bigger I think our laws are fairly identical. Anyway, it turns out I do not need break lights and blinkers on it at all, just reflexes and position lights. And it is actually only required when driving at night. Strange... I'll keep them on all the time anyway.
Fox, you have a point there for sure and I take it very slow in turns. The hitch is actually made to allow the cycle/scooter to fall or the trailer to tip over without transferring most of the twisting motion. But I'll take it slow and careful anyway, don't want to test the theory. The main concern around here is tram tracks in the streets; I take large detours to avoid crossing them in anything but right angles when I have the trailer hooked up.

this is how i attached the trailer to the hitch. i wanted the hitch behind the back tire and below the fender bill so i could make sharp turns without the tongue rubbing on the tire. Attachments:
