quick question as the subject line states I'm planning an Engine swap in my china scoot now as of right now there is nothing wrong with my 50cc china scoot just not enough power or speed but works fine.. I'm looking at dropping in a 150cc short case from partsforscooters.com here in lies my question will that 150cc short case drop right into where my 50cc currently is or will there have to be new mounts made up??

New mounts will have to be made.
The problem is that the motor mounts on a 50 are 99.5% of the time on the bottom of the motor. As far as I know 100% of the 150cc motors have mounts on top of the motor.
You will never get the performance of a 150 out of a 50 but it can be pumped up.
Tune the variator first, a performance variator might get you 5 mph
Open the air box, de-restrict the exhaust next, has to be done with tuning the carb, if you don't tune the carb (larger jet) you will burn valves.
Big Bore Kit you can get kits for an advertised 100cc, but I think the numbers are inflated there. 72 cc seems to be a good compromise for most people.
In the end, if you really want a 150cc, it is probably best to sell yours and buy a 150cc scooter.
Start with the variator, drop some 5 gram weights in it and see how you like it. Spend a few more buck and put a Dr Pulley variator in it if you want to jump into a performance variator first.

well afterlooking a little more I noticed just what you had said about the mounts... so I'm thinking about just going with the 80cc motor instead...

I think that is a good idea.
The 80cc big bore is usually really a 72cc that is being rounded up to 80 for sales hype.
Remember that you will probably need to get a bigger jet for that to run well.
Honestly though, first tune the variator and see what that does.

well I realy need the larger motor as I'm a bigger guy 5'9" and about 320ish so yeah fine tuning the variator is a good idea but the bigger motor and tuning would do better
