The first step is you need to upload your picture to a hosting site like, Tinypic, or photobucket, if you use another that is great too, these are just the two I've used. I'd appreciate it if you used pictures that are 600 X 800 pixels or smaller, they load on the page faster and are kinder for people that use slow internet connections. tinypic.com/photobucket.com/Now you need to copy the url the hosting service generates to use in the post, If you are using the quick reply at the bottom of the thread you might want to use this code to post a picture. [ img] (notice I left an extra space between the img and the brackets, don't leave that space when you post a picture) goes before the picture url then close it with [/img] [ img] i37.tinypic.com/or49hu.jpg[/img] will get you this Posting a picture from using the "reply" button. Once you press the reply button you come to a screen that has icons to use for the reply. If you look at the row of buttons just above the smiley faces, you will see a red button that says "tube" a button with a --> (arrow) then a globe and next to that, one that looks like a small picture. Pressing the small picture inserts the same codes I mentioned above [ img] and [/img], you just paste the url to the picture location between those codes; [ img]your picture location[/img]

Troops,
We are getting a lot of pictures posted and we love them. I'd like to ask a couple favors regarding the pictures.
1. Would you please size them to 800 X 600 or smaller before you upload them for posting, this will make the thread pages load more easily for those with slow internet connections, and the forum software automatically scales the pictures to 800 X 600 or less anyway so resolution is not helped with larger pictures anyway.
2. When show us a big project, try to keep the pictures down to 3 per post, reason for this is that if you post 30 in one post and then more follow in the next post or two it makes the thread page extremely long and large to open, the pages contain 15 posts, if you have 15 posts with numerous photos, another loading problem happens.
Thanks

Pictures,
Add Attachment: If the forum staff has attachments enabled, you will see this button on the posting page. After you click the Add Attachment button, a new window will pop up letting you know how many files you can upload at a time, along with what the file size limit per attachment is. To attach a file, click the + Add Files... button, and then choose a file that you would like to upload from the Browse window that pops up. Once you choose a file, you will see a progress bar for the attachment that is uploading.
Once the attachment has been made, you can use the Insert button to have the attachment appear inline within your post, or you can use the Delete button if you decide against adding an attachment. Otherwise, you can click the Done button found at the bottom of the pop-up window and your attachment file will appear at the very end of your post after your thread has been made.

Posting a video
If you found a video on the internet that you would like to share with other forum members, you can embed the video into your post. When this is done, a video player will appear in a thread after your post is made. ProBoards supports a variety of video services to embed from, as well as supports direct links to video files you have hosted with a file host.
When creating a new thread or post, find the Insert Video button on the posting page to begin embedding a video to your post. Once you click this button, a pop up will display asking for the Video URL, as well as be able to view a list of supported video websites. Simply paste in the URL of the video you would like to embed in your post; you can find the URL of the video either by copying directly from the web address in your web browsers address bar, or through a direct link provided by the share options of the video service you're linking from. Once you have the URL pasted in, click the Insert Video button at the bottom of the pop up window. Now in the posting area, you should see an image placeholder for where the video player will be positioned in your post. After you create the post, the video will display in that spot.

OK a little visual aid on posting a picture. First, upload to a service, I know, it is something new for some of you but it is not that hard. You need to pick a photo hosting service, I have used Tinypic for many years and it has worked very well for me, never had a pic link go dead with this, photobucket has troubles all the time with dead links. After uploading to tinypic you get several addresses you can use for posting a photo, reference the urls with the red A and B in this picture that I uploaded for this help post. You can always just type in code for pic posting as shown here, it is easy and the way I will do it if you want to use the buttons/icons; go to post a reply and when you want a pic to go into the post press the icon indicated by this arrow you get this
