The belt wears out and creates dust in there anyway so no filter is going to keep it clean inside. It will only hinder air flow. If you want to vent the CVT then drill holes in it. The extra air flow will actually keep it cleaner cause the dust has an escape route. www.partsforscooters.com/169-41?sc=9&category=73826Here's a couple I've seen over the years:

There are all kinds of ways to open up the cover. I've heard that opening it up on a water cooled 250 can actually keep them from over heating.
I tend to be more partial to the ones that leave most of it still there, helps with protecting the rider from moving parts.

I just thought that since you asked about it, I'd show you a thread that had something in it you may not have seen. Theswede did some nice work on his there and then some others tossed some other good stuff in.

i vented my cover on my mill. there is a noticeable difference touching my hand to the cover after riding it now as to before. Its is luke warm now and very warm before. I have also ridden the bike 2x in rain. the first time was a terrible downpour that was enough to kill the scoot. the cvt remained dry though (somehow).

LUKE WARM IS GREAT BECAUSE THAT MEANS THE ENGINE HEAT IS DISSIPATING TOO.
which is my only interest in this mod
