Welcome
Can you post a photo of what you are referring to? I'm not aware of a rubber hose/pipe going directly to an exhaust system. If it is a crankcase breather device, yes you can attach a small air filter to it to catch oil droplets. If you have a long enough hose and can mount it high, it may take a very long time to collect enough oil to clog the filter, if ever.

If it's a crankcase breather it's not a 2T. The last thing you want to do is bleed out crankcase pressure on a 2T. You need crankcase pressure to open and close the reeds and move the mixture around and such.
If you couldn't find where the hose led to the engine, it may have went to a canister or something. I'd suggest spending more time tracing the hose from the exhaust and see where it really goes.

if this is a 2 stroke with a cat in it that hose should go back to the air intake or some sort of filter to suck fresh air into the exhasut to help the converter get hot enough to burn the crap off

that hose proably goes all the way to your airbox it should be removed at the air box and the hole in the airbox pluged

As I've no experience in the 50cc version of the Sym Jet, looking at the photo, it looks pretty much like a boost bottle and is most probably connected to the intake manifold and the airbox.
@rebel: Will try to find the photo illustration of the boost bottle.

I have had my jet Euro x 50cc for just under a year now and recently I have had some problems with it. When above 10mph it starts to jump and loose power every 2-3 seconds, makes the bike very jumpy meaning I struggle to hold on to it. Anyone have any ideas?
