I saw this on an electric vehicle page, thought it looked like a good idea. In order to support the scooter while removing the wheel, a device made from a 3' X 3' (you might want to use a 4'X4') piece of 5/8ths plywood. Mount two large eye bolts near one end. Park the scooter on this wood platform, on the center stand, then use a adjustable shipping strap across the luggage rack to hold the rear tire down against the wood platform. This will prevent the front end from accidentally dropping while wheel is removed.

Good idea. The picture looks smaller than 3'x3' though.
Any extra length should stick forward of the center stand. It will try to pivot around the forward edge of the plywood, so the further forward the stabler it will be.
My mental plan for a maintenance stand includes a slide out section to support the front wheel that can be slid back after the rear is secured like in your example. That will give me lots of room to drop the front fork and wheel. I plan to use something like Phaze5 did on his stand, except make the ramp so it will slide all the way through out the front so I can rool the scooter out on it, ties the rear down, then slid the "ramp" back in and have room to drop the wheel.

I have been thinking of sinking in the concrete of garage some fasteners that would be flush that take a 1/4 20 thread. a screw could be left in place untill you need them. putting an eye bolt in would complete your front wheel lift. cost would be lest than to have to buy the wood, of course some people have all the materials laying around.

First, yes I think the original was only a 2X2 piece of plywood, but that was for an electric scooter, I figured with the heavier gas scooter you might need a little larger piece of wood.
As for sinking anchors in the garage floor, some people just don't like to do that kind of stuff, it would be a good alternative to this though and I like the idea.

My dad always said that any idiot could make do with the real thing but it takes a true genius to improvise. Cool!

I likee. I'm enough of a Klutz that I would trip over the bolt head so a flathead screw even with the floor to fill the hole instead of a hex head would work better for me.
