I'd take the cover off and hit the start button and look at it while it is turning over and see what it is doing.
I'm like jmkjr72, I think the starter gear is slipping off.

Um..... Did they make a long case 50cc? I really dont know. It has 12" wheels if that has anything to do with it.

If it has 12 inch wheels you may have lucked out. The normal 50cc has bottom motor mounts. The long case has top mounts like a 150cc. If you have the top mounts a 150 should just slide right in. A regular 50cc (short case) you would need to make an adapter.

I just looked at the pictures in your show off thread. It also has two shocks, I think that is also another indicator for a long case.

Its a bottom mount gy6 . Wish it was a top mount! Would make the swap ALOT easier!

IMHO, that's the sound of the starter bendix engaging, and then slipping/retracting after 1-2 turns of the engine. I think you simply need to remove the cover and clean&oil the bendix some. It comes out in one piece after a bit of wiggling, no need to remove the front CVT pulley btw. Make sure you don't get any oil on the belt or the pulley. Now, you can't safely test the starter without the CVT cover on as one of the bendix axle bearings is in the cover. It will not work properly with the cover removed any you may possibly damage the CVT as it comes loose. But for testing you only need to install 2-3 of the cover bolts, so that is fairly quick and easy. The bendix looks like this: enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/3396365/139qmb-50cc-starter-clutch-bendix

Thanks guys. I may order a benidix from Jeremy and put in it to help with the engine sale

OR, sell it as a basic motor and then sell the carb separately too, then just do not have the starter included.
