Hello, I have enjoyed your wealth of knowledge, and have now joined...finally! I purchased my second 150cc GY6 scooter ( JMStar) for $125.00. Replaced the bad head, piston and cylinder from my Baja SC150 and rode a wonderful 150 miles. Fed up with problems, I ordered a new 157qmj off of Ebay from T motorsports. The kit came with engine, carb, ign. coil, silenoid, a ?round ele. component?, and a ?flat/ ribbed ele. component?. I hear one of these is a rectifier. I installed the engine, replaced oil with rotellaT, and Lucas gear oil. She's running smooth. I replaced the round electric comp., but the flat/rib. component plug does not match my factory plug. And here we go, I initially had head lights that were very dim at idle, increasing illumination with increasing rpm's. now I have no headlights except for one side lamp if you depress the high beam button. I do have turn signals. What have I done now? Thanks for your help!

check your regulator...most likely your stator got fried.

Ah, I guess I'm not the only glutten for punishment! I too bought a second 150 scooter which the previous owner admitted had electrical problems so he had some one look at it and disable the remote/alarm. Finally got it all straightened out over the weekend. Initially only had one headlight, no blinkers front/rear and no brake light. First check the bulbs (all mine were blown). Then checked to make sure I had power to the switches. I've come to the conclusion that the previous owner either tried to charge the battery on to high a charge or tried to jump start it from a vehicle. Any way after replacing the voltage regulator (which had a crack/smelled burnt), both headlights and all other bulbs and the flasher I had most lof the lights working. Had to switch a couple pins on the dimmer switch so lo/high beam would work correctly. Also had to switch a couple pins on the flasher and put a piece of tape over the hole in bottom to tone down that high pitch when blinkers flash. Now it's tolerable. Can't believe the main fuse didn't blow when all this happened. Still have to figure out why the clock isn't working...
