well sounds like you are running rich if you clean the plug and it starts up again
first think i know kymco 2 strokes have side stands i had a client who had an issue like yours and he would leave it run on the side stand
if thats not the case i would clean your air filter clean your carb and check your reed valves then adjust your a/f screw to about 1 turn out

the reeds are under the intake so you have to take the intake off to get to them im trying to picture the carb your zx should be before the smog nazis said you have to play find the af screw game you know which one is your idle adjustment right it will be the only other adjustable screw on the carb if its on the bike it should be on the carb towards the front of the bike not far above the carb bowl

hi jmkjr72 once again i have taken the carb off and filter off dont know where the reeds are i have taken photos of the carb but dont know how to post em on here. the 2 screws on the carb are verticle and looks like one is a little smaller than other, i also took the spark plug out and it looked a little oily and there was a verry little oil at the bottom of the air filter, so i will leave it off till you get back to me. cheers

Look for the reeds under the intake manifold, where it bolts up to the cylinder.

am i right in thinking this feeds oil to the carb if so can it feed to much oil to the carb and if so how do you slow the feed down, or am i thinking wrong its just cos there was oil on the spark plug Attachments:

Honestly, I'm not a 2 t expert. That could be your oil pump. A lot of guys just bypass it and mix their oil in the gas at the pump. That would be a cheap way to fix that problem. Cap it off and carry a bottle of 2 stroke oil to put in the tank at the gas station.

the lower screw is the af screw the upper is the throttle stop
i would set the af to 1.5 turns out the spec is 1+- but less then 1 and more then 2 needs a pilot jet adjusment
