My scooter is having problems starting when hot. When it happens, it is always hot, but kick starts on the first try. What happens:
When I turn the ignition switch on, nothing works, no headlights, dash lights, clock...nothing. So, of course no juice to turn the starter.
It started a few weeks ago, so I thought the battery was going. Checked it cold, it was around 12.5 volts, but the positive wire on the battery was loose. Tightened it up, no more problems...till now. It's doing the same thing. I did notice the other day that one time, when I turned it on, the clock and dash lights worked till I hit the starter button. I also remembered one time to turn off all the lights before turning the ignition switch on, and it still did it. The clock was working until I hit the starter button. It always starts cold with the starter, and the starter seems to be turning as fast as it should. My scooter does NOT have a kill switch.
If the ignition switch went out, would the kick starter still work? Any ideas? What do I check now?

It is possible that the start position on the switch is bad. If you can take the switch apart and clean the contacts it might help. I'd also start taking the plastics off and check all your electrical connections. Things do vibrate and can loosen up.

Forgot to tell you, I did that too. The contacts were a little black, so I cleaned them up, put some dielectric grease on them and put it back together. I did that before I found the loose battery wire.

have you change the fuse they then to have a bad connection in them when it is cold there is no to little current going through it but as the scooter is running there is current following to the battery form the charging system that will cause the element inside to warm up and that can cause your problem

have you check the ground wire at the frame i had a smilier problem like that and found a loosened bolt that made the scoot act all kind of weird
