Ok guys you have seen my new addition to the stable. Stella. I got her after she had been sitting around for awhile. The carb. was gummed up, so I cleaned it out. She ran better, but not great. JMK question-I bought new jets and a Vespa air filter, for a PX200, like Bald John suggested. # 55/160 idle jet # 160 air corrector # BE3 mixer # 100 Main She runs much better. Like Way better. JMK question-I had a pool of oil in the carb box. I figure it's coming from the passage under the box. Installed new gaskets. No luck. Put a straight edge under the carb and the box. Dead flat. No worries. Installed two new gaskets with 3M Spray Tack sealer and have had limited success. At first there was no oil in the box, but now there is a little, PLUS, if I let her sit and then fire her up. She smokes like a freight train. But just for a bit. There is no oil on the filter, so she's not pucking it up. Any ideas? JMK-90GT question-Listen to this and give me your opinion of the jetting. She pip, pip, pips at very little throttle opening and then takes off like a scalded dog. I'm not the 2T man but it seems lean to me. No pinging up in the high revs. Seems kinda flat there. I figure it's the Muffler and the Cat on her. I took a video. For the sound mainly. If anyone else has a clue I would appreciate it as well. RD

on the back of the carb is your a/f screw it is under a plastic nut take the nut off turn the screw in count how many times it takes to go in then turn in you ideal for the stella is 2.5 to 3 turns out with the si carb

a bit of blow back is normal and i think engines like this tend to have a little more
basicly the stella engine is an rotary valve engine that has hat the rotary valve removed and replaced with a reed block

I set the a/f screw. Hmmm. It sounds ok to you? Like I said, There is nothing coming out of the air filter from blowback. Ok thanks.

i do have a non cat pipe laying around here some where for the stella you just may need th take the bolt off your stock pipe or maybe even the whole clamp
the air filter you got does it have t holes in the heart area on the carb side of the air filter
one last thought when i let mine sit and i forget to turn the fuel off she loads up pretty good and smokes a lot

That's what I'm thinking JMK. The stock pipe is choking the, er snot out of it.
I have a real Piaggio filter. Holes cut out for the jets.
I'm use to riding a motorcycle, so I always turn the petcock off. Not trying to be snippy, I just do.

I really don't have anything useful to add. lol I dunno if I've ever heard or been around a Stella or Vespa up close. From what I can tell in the vid it's not alarming. 2Ts make some weird noises and sometimes seem a bit unstable if you are used to 4Ts. Part throttle is ofter really choppy (again no exp. with Stellas). Some of mine resemble the rhythm of big cams in hot rods at the right throttle positions. Gurgling at times. Screaming other times. Sorry, wish I knew more about those scoots.

<GT> That was useful. That's just what it sounds like. Going slow, just off idle it resembles the sound of a lopping 4t cam.
Thanks
<JMK> Oh yeah. I'd love to give it a try. Mighty nice of you JMK.
Thanks again

My cheap Kodak lacks a lot to be desired . And for some strange reason it was saving clips as MOV Apple files. I converted them to WMV. Let me change that and see if it's better. Nope no better. RD

Ok JMK. Here's my plan. Split the cases on this honey, during the Winter, and install a new crank, bearings. Pop in a top end kit. I would like as much top end as I can get. Any suggestions? I'm also not a huge fan of the Spaco Carb. It's an ancient design. Perhaps a real Kiehin D slide 24-28mm? And I have been drooling over that 226 left side pipe. What do you think? O yeah, ditch the auto lube.

ok here is what i did mazzicheli full circle race crank dr 177 kit (i raised and widened the exhasut about 1mm i also made the transfer ports massive so big i had to order the polini base gasket i kept the si carb just went up to a 24/24 get your self the ggr hot reeds (you get to cut the cross bar out of the reed block more air) and im running the somonini pipe so no where near as wild as the 226 and i have hit 70 with throttle left
make sure you get clutch side and fly side crank seals and the fly wheel puller i think i had to buy a clutch puller too
