Wow what a great idea Kiff, ill have to make one for myself now. Here's a couple of close up Jeremy If you look real close in the second pic, you can see the 2 holes I drilled before filling the cavity with epoxy.....sameOsameO on other side. Bonded to the metal stem, and the plastic housing. Kliff, I stole your idea, and made myself one of these My temps in the sump averege between 200F - 240F normally The hottest I've read was 276, after an all day excursion (40+ mi, a lot of it wot) Do you think that is too hot ?

Shiftless, you can't steal something that is given away, I'm sure Kliff is glad to see somebody get some good use out of the information he posted here.

No theft there Shifty! When I post stuf like that, it is FOR you guys to duplicate, or improve upon, or just use as an idea for something even better. A fairly direct copy, like yours, does my ego wonders! Makes me proud that someone took the time to to study the design, determine it useful, then take the time to build one. THANK YOU! I appreciate the compliment. I wish, health and time would allow me to produce some of this stuff for sale, but I'm slower than 'lasses in winter, even on a good day. So I make most of my ideas available to y'all as DIY projects. Good fabricators like yourself, don't need much more than a pic to start working. Thanks again, hope you enjoy it. BTW.... those are some great temps. 212>250F preferred, keeps moisture and acids evaporated out of the oil, without damaging the oil. 250>275F is taking most oils to their limits, and shortenning their life, 1000 mile change intervals should take care of this. Temps 300F+ .....start shopping for oil coolers! Like I said, those are great temps, ride on.

Only thing I do different, and learned from low oil pressure, ball bearing URAL engines was to add about 3ozs of Lucas oil stabilizer per qt of oil. So with the GY6's I add 2.5 ozs every change. Take an engine apart that has had it in there, and you'll know why....it STICKS to ball bearings. I don't woryy about "dry starts," even if the engine has been sitting for 2 months.

So what's the update on the Mad Maxx? How many miles have you got on it? How is the performance? Seems like your hobby is more in the wrenching of the scooters than the riding? I read all your posts but as I am more of a rider than a wrencher I don't have much to contribute other than to say it is all interesting and I wish I could get up the nerve to mod mine. MaddMaxx sorta fell by the wayside, still needs finishing. Mainly electrical.....but had back surgey, up & down with Dad for a couple of weeks, HAD to get some promised shop work out, saw an opportunity to start a 50cc racer project..... It's gonna get finished this winter....OR get a KLR650 transplant..... not really sure yet.....but sumpin's gonna happen!

Being new to the forum I know most don't like newbies bringing up old posts, but Kliff the scotter is cool. Just wish I had the forsight, and ability to fab up things like you do. I can totally sympathize with your back problems. Mine's been messed up since I was 9 years old after I fell backward in a water service, which was nothing more than a 55 gallon drum with the ends cut out. Hairline fractured 2 vertabrae, and compressed or ruptured the lowest disc to half the size it should be. So I'm very careful about how I lift anything, or move.

Footscoot,
Welcome to the forum.
Don't worry about dragging up classic threads, especially ones like this that has a lot of good info.
