Sorry, you misunderstood, this is a thread Dwild asked to get moved over from SD, not something I really did, I'm just moving the important posts by copying them. I tried to make it obvious that David or als01seville made the comments.

OK Rebels Got an update for yah!! Alley & I both got our new tires today. Mine are 22x10-10.. OK, Alley, let me have it, tell me you told me so!! The tread is the same width, but the sidewalls are slightly wider, meaning I can't quite get fender supports to quite clear sides of tires.. There for a fender mod will be coming down the road as well.. May try to make stock fenders work for now, but may build custom aluminum diamond plate fenders, because in my personal opinion, the stock fenders no longer look good, w/ the bigger tires.. Your opinions welcome.. The 22/10-10 tire is 3 lb heavier than the 18/10-10 tire.. The 18/10-10 tire is 12 lb, & the 22/10-10 tire is 15 lb.. That's only a total of 6 lb, not bad.. The new tire changer worked pretty good.. Now I've dismounted & mounted many, many tires in 30 + years, but 95% of them were w/ an antique air/ electric powered tire changer.. As far as blowing tire up onto beads I've used straps, & rope, cinched or twisted to expand tire beads out wide enough for tire to take air.. Well tonight none of that was working so, I took a Crash You Tube Coarse on making a tire bomb (Explosion Tire Mounting).. Well!!! The person who came up w/ this idea had some real Brass Balls, I'll tell you!! ;D ;D I'll say 1 thing my heart was pumping, knees were knocking, seen as how in January 1979 I was in a cabin fire caused by fuel, & hospitalized at Strong Mamorial Burn Unit of Rochester, NY.. OK, so I spray ether in the tire & a little on the sidewall & try to throw lit wooden matches at tire, well that wasn't working.. So I get my fairly new butane torch (pic below), touch tire w/ flame, huh, nothing, OK, so I spray more ether in tire, now I touch tire w/ butane torch again, Ka Woom, O'Boy, I felt that, look at my butane torch, & the end of it's gone, OK, that cost $9.00 to mount that tire.. Well better the butane torch, then my fingers!! But it did the job, 1st time I tried that, worked darn good too.. The 2nd tire I made a paper torch w/ news paper stuffed in the end of a PVC pipe.. Spray inside of 2nd tire, lit my 6' torch & touched the side of tire, & Ka Woom, 2 tire mounted, YAH, & I still have all my fingers.. Got my D.I.D. Sealed O-ring chain also, but, I didn't order the right length. So I have to order another one.. Also should be starting building my new Custom Baffled Muffler tomorrow, I have all the tubes & flat bars, just waiting on the sheet steel, that should be here tomorrow.. David Sr.

Now those are some tires.
But guy, you can get a small air compressor with a 3 gallon tank pretty cheap now a days. I got one at Sears a couple months ago on sale with inflation tools and a small nail gun for $75.00, regular price is only about ten bucks more. It probably is a heck of a lot safer than a controlled explosion to inflate the tire. I'm sure it is not as fun though.

A Reb's Here's another sound bite, & pics of latest mods.. New tires 22/10-10 (stock tires 18/10-10), haven't done a test run yet, maybe this afternoon.. Newly Custom Built Mild Steel dual baffle High Flow Muffler w/ 1 1/4" diameter Baffles, 107 1/8" holes in & 107 1/8" holes out, equivalent to 1 1/4" diameter port, muffler size 3" diameter x 12" Long.. Muffler Hanger & Muffler Flat Band Clamp are Custom formed from 1/8" x 1" Stainless Steel flat bar.. Also Custom Stainless Steel Head Pipe Stabilizer Bracket welded to head pipe & bolts to engine case.. I'm trying this combination w/ #35 pilot jet, & #125 main jet.. Muffler I think sounds pretty good all the way around.. This sound bite is almost 7 minutes long.. Reb's weigh in w/ you thoughts.. If anyone has any thoughts for Custom Rear Fenders, I'd like to hear about them.. David Sr.

Rebel You're right on the safer part.. I have a well equiped shop, & have a 60 gal compressor & tire changing equipment, but I couldn't get the tires to take air, I even used a tire cinch strap.. What might have done it, is a small high preasure, high volume out put portable tank.. I think that's how the tire shop mounted Alley's (over at ScootDawg forum) tires.. The problem is these tires would be better on 7" wide wheel in stead of 8" wide wheels..

YO, REB'S!! Here the pics of Tires & Fender Mods You All have Been Waiting For... I made fender frames adjustable up to 2 1/2", 22/10-10 tire need fenders 2" higher then stock, because tires OD gets larger the faster it turns.. I also shortened center fender 3/4" (cut 3/8" off each end), drilled new holes 1/2" in from each edge, had to cut about 2" of material from front inside fender lip & front of left & right end legs from center fender... I will take them back apart in the Spring to paint.. Best thing is these modded fender frames can be lowered back down for stock tire.. Also don't have to worry about fighting w/ CVT cover hitting fenders when taking CVT cover off.. David Sr.

That's a big difference in tire size, Is that plate that you put in there for adjusting the height going to hold up? I'm wondering if it will bend over time.

Rebel It shouldn't bend, plates are 1/4" thick, plus it has the center fender which basically make both fenders as 1 unit, which adds a lot of stability to each fender.. If it does become a problem I'll just add a brace to each side below center fender.. I gave the material I used a great deal of thought, because it needed to be vary rigid, but yet light as possible, being this trike is already around 400 lb before this point.. The light weight need, creates a bit of a damper in my next mod as well..
I'm planing to build a receiver hitch that mounts to scooter frame it's self which will require longer material, plus I'm adding a cargo carrier attachment, & a scooter/ motorcycle transporter attachment.. Not really concerned about a trailer hitch, but the cargo carrier w/ plastic cooler style trunk, would handy for going to the store or picnic, or fishing, you know just little light duty stuff, & the scooter/ motorcycle transporter will be handy, being that I have 2 motorcycles & 2 two wheel scoots, & could play fetch w/ out the need for a trailer to do the job.. I'd like to use good grade aluminum for this being it's light weight, but not sure if aluminum is up to the task or not..

Looking good, but I can see some lower gearing in your future to pull those things. 4 or more less teeth on the front sprocket I'm betting. Otherwise, come summer, bogging, detonation, lugging, overheating, and in general top end meltdown.
definitely looks good, but the proof will be in the performance, stock, as opposed to changing gear ratios.

kliff Well, I don't know.. Though I hear what you're saying.. Theses tires are only 3lb each heavier then stock.. I did 2 test runs so far (about 10 miles each), I felt no low end power loss at all, I don't think there's any real power loss, didn't hurt top speed any.. Seem's to climb hills about the same..
As far as over heating, I'm planning to install an oil cooler, to help combat heat, figure it couldn't hurt.
Sprocket size is definitely an option, it's just a matter of finding someone to fabricate one..

Time will tell, and I could be way off base. But 9 Hp is 9HP, and when an increased load is applied, sooner or later, a little change of gearing can help.
I'd definitely try it like it is first though, riding comfort has got to be 100% better.
If you ever were out a front sprocket, and the slines are still good, send it to me, I'll try to make you a quick change hub, you can use easily obtainable sprockets for. Then you'd have the ability to do a "road gear" or a "snappy 'round town" gear change, in about 5 minutes. We could also fab up a spring loaded idler pulley to take up chain slack with smaller sprockets.
Anyway, just keep that in the back of your mind, if'n you wear one out. All I need is the disc with some good splines....I'll fab the rest. No charge to the prototype tester.
