kliff Sounds like a plan to me.. I was thinking about ordering a new stock sprocket, for a spare, & or w/ the idea of having the splines for just that purpose.. It's a idea I've had in the back of my mind for a while now..

If & when you get ready, just lemme know David, and I'll get my shipping info to you. If I haven't bought one myself by then, I'll be needing some detailed pics and measurements for clearances too. But we can worry about that when it's time.
BTW, what size chain is used on those jewels? Curious as to whether it's a common industrial, or a motorcycle chain. In either case, I'd like to retrofit sprockets, front and back for either a 520 or 525 M/C chain, and use the "o" or "x" ring variants. Super good chain! Excellent life, low level maintenance, very little adjustment, until the end of it's life cycle. 10-20K miles on street bikes, 8--12K on Dual purpose.
Wanderring again, sorry, just keep me posted, oh, also, your wheel & tire combo may not be as far off as I first thought. It cirtainly looks drastic, but a 13" scooter tire is in the 20" diameter range. So the gear change may not be as necessarry as I thought, but could be the icing on the cake....LOL

kliff These animals use a #428 chain.. I've got a D.I.D. sealed O-ring chain waiting to go on.. The D.I.D. sealed O-ring #530 chain is what I run on my "79 Suzuki GS750.. & you're right they go a lot a miles.. Any bikes I've ever had, the 1st thing I usually do is replace front & rear sprockets & install D.I.D. sealed O-ring chain.. I know these Chinese drive chains are junk.. I mean no matter how good of sprockets you have, a junk chain will chew them up quick & visa versa.. I don't, there might be better than a D.I.D. chain, but I'd say they're near the top, & certainly good enough for the average rider, at least for street use, in my opinion.. I haven't dealt w/ the X chain.. I guess the X chain is some of the newer technoligy..
On the Ice Bear, clearance isn't a big issue, accept for rear sprocket, which would be the vertical clearance because of cross member of the swing frame is just above the top length of chain.. Horizontal clearance for rear sprocket not an issue.. Horizontal & vertical clearance for front sprocket not an issue.. Though not sure about clearance for other size chain, I know the #530 O-ring chain is huge compared to the #428..

kliff I just happen to think, are sprockets hardened, or tool steel or what??

Depends....
Most I've seen are hardenned steel, though on the street with 'O"ring chains, even hardened aluminum sprockets can give 5 digit life spans.
Just depends on the manufacturer, no rule nor reason.

YO Reb's BAD NEW, BEAR OPERATORS!! We'll be finding out exactly what the Gear Box in the trikes consists of........... I headed out for Syracuse, NY this morning, had to maneuver around a little to get turned around so I could get out the driveway... Well, it jumped a couple of times in forward like it had in the past (but hasn't done it in a long time), then it seemed OK, got about 15 miles or so, & all of a sudden it goes RIP!!! Sounded like it took every tooth off the Gears.... Needless to say, BEAR DOESN'T GO ANYMORE!! BEAR IS BROKEN!!

Reb's Right now I'm trying to find out $ & availability of gear box & or parts, but there's no parts list for just the gear box... Thought the gear box is part of engine, which is still under warranty until the end of September... Right now I'm just about ready to open up gear box to have a look see, but I can tell you it's not good (not pretty), when I drain the gear oil I heard bits & pieces hit the bottom of the bowl, & it's nasty thick & solid silver... Hell there may not even be anything left in there at all!!!

A Doc's The Reason Your ICE BEAR TRIKE JUMPS OR SHUTTERS is because of faulty case or from stress & strain dew to torque & weight.. What a depressing day.. Just got Bear reassembled, so the parts don't get lost... Everything in the transmission gear box & it's components are in good shape, all of that jumping I was getting last fall & part of the winter went away, then came back about 3 times over this last couple of weeks.. I believe there's 2 possibilities, 1) The left side engine case had a flaw in the casting of the final drive where the bearing was held in place, allowing the bearing & shaft to move, which allowed the teeth to jump, breaking out the casting, or 2) The final drive shaft was flexing dew to all the torque & weight (400 lb + 260 lb = 660 lb) & causing the gears to jump teeth & busting up the case.. I'll bet that's wolfhound's & his body's problem too!! Here the kicker thought, remember over the winter the email I said I got from Ice Bear that they basically said there was a known problem in the drive train, but nobody would say exactly what that problem was?? Well listen to this, I call Scooters Dynasty, & they said the 150cc trikes are no longer available w/ a reverse gear box because of all the problems.. NOW IS THAT SOME crap OR WHAT?? David Sr.

are new parts available?
I know you are probably not wanting to put new parts for a defective tranny back into it but if you can get the parts, perhaps the case can be modified to not allow the parts to jump out of place. I'd get in touch with Jim and see if he has something for it. Or see if Kliff can work some magic on the case if you are not able to dom it on your own.

A Rebel As far as new parts, I assume so, but that's questionable.. When I looked online at the Dealer Part Lists it doesn't show a break down for the final or the forward /reverse gear boxes.. The final is the same setup as the 2 wheel scoots just a different final out put shaft that goes into the forward /reverse gear box... And I don't see the engine break down either... But I think they must have, because a couple of days a go I got a message asking if they could charge my credit card for shipping.. I responded, telling them yes but I wanted a list of the parts being shipped.. They emailed a pic of the parts, well the pic show the forward /reverse gear box parts.. So I called them & told them that wasn't going to do any good.. So now I'm waiting again, so they can figure it all out.. So I don't know if they're going to ship a new engine or parts to fix this one... I'm figuring the trike isn't going to see many mile this year.. If I repair this one, I figure at the vary least I'm going to have to split the case.. Buy the time they get it all sorted out, ship the parts, pull engine apart, clean it put new parts in & get it back together, I figure the summer will probably be just about over... If it's a new engine, then I'll have to spend time doing a break in, so I guess it doesn't matter to much which way I go... Plus the fact that the original drive train issues will likely still be there, unless it was just a defected, or they've change something... From what I under stand, the 2010, 150cc trikes don't have the forward /reverse gear box, & I be leave, they aren't compatible w/ the 2009's... I figure I'll fix it, if the original drive issue are still there I'll have to dump it, & cut my losses & forget about it.. Or I've go a friend that wants to put a 3 cylinder diesel on it... Fortunately there was 3 months left on the engine warranty... So who knows, I'll keep everyone posted..
