It should but since I have had it I wasn't able to get it to sit still while idling.

Might as well call this the misadventures of a previous moped owner...
Both the motor mounts let go today during a shake down ride. I replaced them with Grade 8 stuff to hopefully keep that in line.
But there seems to be a lot more vibration throughout the bike while the motor is going. It vibrates my feet on the pegs and the rear turn signals vibrated so hard they broke (Cheap china one's).
I'm thinking I should have left the other motor on it now.

Vibration really shouldn't be a problem, did you make sure any shipping strap that should have come off did?

Yes I think I am going to bobber the turn signal lights for now. And wait till spring to check into other types.
I appreciate all your help and input.

So this morning I went for a ride to the local VAMC to see a friend. I needed a jump to get it started to get home. 1/4 mile from the VA and the gas tank started leaking from the tank itself.
The paint on the frame is now peeling away where the gas hit it. Now an $750 mini chopper that I purchased an upgrade motor for about $250. Finally get the motor in and all hell literally broke loose on this thing. Shakes, rattles and things letting go...
Next I guess is field stripping it down to get either repainted or powder coated. Then to a mechanic to put it back together and make sure it's running right when it is done.
I honestly don't know what else to do...

I hope it's alright to post a link to my gofundme page to try to and get some more money together to fix the chopper the way it needs to be. It is going to need a paint/powder coating, gas tank fixed, fenders, sissy bar and then the motor installed and fix the rattles issues that are causing all the vibrations that is breaking things. www.gofundme.com/JerrysMiniChopper

We will allow the go fund me link.
Sorry you are having so much trouble but if you are paying for a mechanic, consider a new bike it might be cheaper.

I know it would likely be cheaper but at this point I know what I want and can't afford to find another one when I won't get enough money out of this one in the condition it is in.

sorry to hear about the trouble your having. If it's a shaking issue and the motor mounts are all correct? It means the motor itself is out of balance. There's a reason a lot of these upgrade motors are so cheap. Might end up needing rubber mounts if nothing else to relive some of the shaking. With all that shaking also like in the older kholer opposed twins they killed themselves by vibrating parts loose or even ruining internals in the carb needing a rebuild in a short time. If you fit rubber washers in between the frame mount and the motor it may help a tiny bit as I had to do with my old Honda.

I just don't know...the tank is still leaking in my driveway after what two weeks I thought it would be done but no.
I want to get at least the tank welded tight so when I take it to get everything else sorted out they can actually run it and ride it to find the issues out.
I can't give up yet again just because it's getting harder, I need this thing to find my focus too bad it's only riding weather 8-9 months of the year in Michigan.
Thanks for everything and letting me vent.

It appears to be leaking at the back seam.

Welding\soldering\brazing a fuel tank is risky. Filling it with water before you apply heat is a good idea but that makes it a bit harder to heat up enough. I would go with brazing it.

I've seen braze jobs on tractor tanks and they came out good no water needed just air dry the tank fully open aka no gas cap no fuel line/valve maybe even wash it out get rid of vapor and fumes and you'd be fine hell I weld them after doing so but mind you this is with argon gas and a mig welder on low. As long as the tank is open venting the built up heated air and there are no fumes or residue its fine this coming from a very very skilled welders son on his advice. I use pressurised water and cleaner to get rid of residue first mind you and be safe wear leathers but I'd advise braising if your not confident plus it's easier and never weld on a closed container with even only a small opening even if clean explosions can happen just due to heat.

Oh and do it in short bursts take your time let it cool and see how its progressing it lets the heat dissipate and gives you a better outcome due to looking it over ect As for a seam they make spot welders they pinch the two seams together and use the metal itself as the welding material.
