Last night my cvt started making a thawping sound.
it seemed to come from the kick start gear, as it changed when i put the foot peg up better.
I stoped the bike engine, and tried to use the kick start, it worked fine.
restarted bike, and thawping sound was there again, i drove it 20 more miles home
I went in side and did the most important thing I have learned to do with a china bike.
Poured a good warm glass of sharaz red wind and said who gives a dam.
I was wondering what folks thought i would find wrong when i open it up.

OK PART 2
I have measured valves, they both seem to be 004
I have the cvt cover off.
the noise seems to come from the clutch, but it seems to work fine
any one know what could make a wapt wapt wapt sound, that seems to be getting worse?

I go back to the fact you think the noise is coming from the CVT and it changes twhen you move the kickstart.
Have you run the scooter with the cover off the cvt? Do that and if the noise goes away I bet you need to look in there for something that is messed up.
Still got my phone number?

the sound comes from the tranny/clutch area.
no bolts around I can see.
whats the chance it is a bearing?

could be a bearing, sure. If you have the area located then it is a question of taking it apart and finding the broken piece.
Is Jonway still selling their version of your scooter?
