Truly there are some very high mileage brand name scooters out there. I only have a couple of things to say about that. The first is that at three times the price of a comparable size China scoot they should last longer. The second is that many, not all but many, of the brand name scooter owners speak about Chinese scooters like they refer to HIV. CCS is not an incurable condition.
I've got 6,500 miles on mine and it still works just fine. With any luck it will hit 10,000 miles this season and keep on ticking.
Most of these discussions remind me of the old "Nothing outlasts a BMW motorcycle" arguments against all other bikes. BMW owners are the most finicky owners in the world and service their bikes religiously. Put a Kawasaki 600 owning 18 year old squid on a new BMW and let me know how many weeks it lasts.
It's not the scooter but the nut on the handlebars that determines longevity.

today, i cut the grass, got the weed whacker out and did that, fixed the whackers reel because the string was messed up, changed the oil and sharpened the blade on the lawnmower. the mower is a 1976 k- mart model, the spark plug is original and never has been removed. took the carb apart on my gas pressure washer and unplugged the jet. it runs like new again. welded the anti-skid feet on my harbor freight table lift, one fell off. i kind of swept the garage a little. now i'll watch the milwaukee brewers baseball game and relax the rest of the day, or until my kids show up.

Years ago one member in the other place had a Lance Milan with 24,000 miles he accumulated in a year and a half. He retired it after breaking the frame with a good running engine. I don't have any direct contact but from what I hear there have been improvements in recent models for increased speed and reliability.
