In 1967, my dad and I were working out of a 10'x10' dirt floored shed. In 1970, we started building our present shop. It was built in 2 sections, and the exterior completed long after we had moved in. It is currentlt 21'x48', with a rear addition of 12'x30' for the cabinet shop. He and I have bought many a tool and fixture over the years, some stay, some go, as we no longer need them. This didn't happen over night. And yes, it is insured for more than the house Dad lives in! Post some pics of your place, even if it is a dirt floored shack...cause I've been there, and I know what it took to get where I am now, and I still drool over shops way better than mine... Oooooooppps...I forgot the sheet metal brake and shear....small, but REAL handy! And a few of my clamps...

There's some serious equipment in that shop kliff. Here's where I work on my scoots (and other things)... Outside : (Sorry the pic is obstructed, but I thought you might like some eye candy in the form of a friend's '69 Camaro and another friend's '70 Chevelle. Inside :

Show offs, how big are those shops? I'm buying a new house and will be building a shop there, the house is on 1 1/4 acres so I should have room, now I just got to find the money.

This garage is 26x40 and not nearly big enough sometimes. Of course, it's a garage more than a shop 3/4 of the space is taken up with cars. A couple tips when planning... maybe the other guys have more? Put in plenty of electrical outlets. They always seem just a few feet too far away. lol Get good lighting. I have 6 standard bulb sockets on the ceiling and I end up using a flourescent drop light and work bench lighting. A friend has all flourescent tube lighting and it's so much nicer to work in at night.

Figure out how to add a transfer case and front differential and you won't need that Jimmy/Blazer anymore.

Cragar SS wheels don't look too bad. Chevy rally wheels might look good for what you want too. Maybe 15x7 front and 15x10 rear ;D You may have to "convince" the rear wells that a 325/50R15 will fit.

Photoshop, FYI, my wife loves that program but I couldn't understand it. I use a program called Gimp, it is free to download and has almost everything photoshop has, works really well if you want to learn it.

Nice equipment guys. I'd kill for a Bridgeport end mill and an engine lathe would be mighty handy. I have a 50x50 basement I work in but the wife is trying to junk me out of it!!! My stuff isn't junk LOL. I have the room for another building and plan one just not this year.

Shops, you guys have great ones, I'm using a 10X12 shed, no dirt floor Kliff but it is small, I built a cover to park the rebel under and the wife makes it share the space with the lawn mower. I'll post pics when I take some.

All shops, big small, humble or palacial, are sacred ground. I've worked in them all, and built mine, with my Dad, from the ground up.
You don't make fun of another man's place of worship, OR his shop. Be proud of whatcha got.

I used to work on cars in the driveway/yard or in a shed that was only 2-3ft wider than most cars with maybe 6ft of extra length. I miss that sometimes in the winter. One average size kerosene heater on a low to mid setting kept it toasty. Now I use 2 kerosene heaters and a reddy heater if it's real cold... or often work in the cold becaue I'm too cheap to pay for that much kersosene.
