Peak power is around 7500rpm on a QMJ exceeding that does nothing more for performance That might be the time to consider new final drive gears to increase the top speed using the same power if you want to.

Oh my god!
don't tempt me! Another way to break my scooter!
Seriously though. How hard is it to change the gears, and doe sit really affect top end?

if your motor has the power, you can get about a 10% increase with the right gears. Hard, well I've never changed them, Kliff has and he says it is not too bad, now not too bad for Kliff might be a challenge for somebody else.
My opinion is that these scooters are toys and meant for exploring the reaches of your mechanical ability to effect a change. I'd say go for it and learn what you can do, but it is your money and your scooter. A mans got to know his limitations and you just don't know what that is until you hit it.

I ran today with GPS, and my topspeed on level ground is around 55 mph, uphill it dropped to 51, and downhill it ran around 61 mph. My speedometer is around 8 mph over, so when doing 55, it reads at 63 mph or 99 kmh. The tach is redlining 8,000 rpms at 60 mph, which is downhill and for short runs only. I might be able to try 14 gram weights to reduce the rpms, I have 12.8 gram stock rollers in now, or new gears like Rebel said. It looks like my next project is going to be the speedometer cable, I could hear it whining, and clicking in the dash today, I almost forgot I need to replace the valve stems, oh and the fuel gauge hasn't worked in awhile. It may be easier to list what I have not replaced. I also checked the plug today after an extended run since installing the 160 jet, and it was a nice tannish color. I think the 32mm carb has alot to do with running a larger jet, and although my top speed isn't the best, it has really great acceleration. Bullet

I don't know what your goal for performance is and if you want to have a mostly reliable run around town scooter or if you would like to have a screamer. Head tuning can result in some of your best power gains. Also a cam upgrade. Power can be at the expense of reliability after you hit a certain point, More power causes more stress on the metals. Some of the power caused stress can be helped with proper oil temperature and cooling for the motor, but still it can hurt the long term life of a motor. This is my kind of official warning statement. No go out and make the scooter fun to ride as you see fit.

Rebel, I'm happy with how the scooter is running now, and I really don't care to put anymore money into it right now. I probally have put more in it than I paid for the bike. Now the speedometer cable is going, fuel gauge float is shot, and the tires need new valve stems. I am very happy just to have fixed it from the no power issue, and these scoots were not meant to go 80 mph, I'm just glad that I don't have to wave people around in a 35 zone and actually ride safley in a 55 mph zone. Although all my mods have not increased my top speed that much, it feels like it has more get up and the exhaust sounds cool too. As for the head I did not port or polish it. Bullet
