Right on da money.
Gonna be running an ITP 10x5" rim, with a 4 bolt by 157mm bolt pattern, and a 3x2" offset. So it will neeed a flange added to the hub to bolt up. The smaller diameter wheel, will require a smaller disc & caliper for clearance, so a new hub fabbed for that. Then machine down the OEM spoke hub, sleeve it, and add both new flanges, while maintaining a plus or minus .005" axial and radial run-out, BUT maintaining the OEM Kawa cush drive for the sprocket hub....
Hopefully to the welder for the first run addition of the sleeve and disc hub, Then back here, wheel flange finished, located, clamped and back to the welder.....then back again, and final clean -up passes, tire install, and scooter install.
Man....I gotz to get a TIG rig..... farming out this aluminum TIG work is a killer!

Went ahead and snatched the engine out, so I could stretch the lower frame rails... You can pretty much see all that is left of the KLR frame in that last pic....the silver parts...LOL. From there on I'll be grafting a Roketa neck, to a homemade downtube, and a 50-75% fabbed tail section/seat platform... Most of the parts turned for the rear hub now, and assembled/clamped over the OEM hub. Going to the welder this week, then back in the lathe for final truing...... More to come..... ;D

One of these days I need to come out there and watch you do some of your machine work. I'm no expert but it sure looks good.

Next week the hub goes out for welding....DAMMIT! GOTTA break down and buy another TIG....never should have sold my old rig! Anyway.... while it's out, I'll start finalizing some stuf like the front end, rear seat platform, fuel tank mounts, swing arm; shock mount, fuel filter mount, etc... Still not happy with the rake, but every thing is lining up well be bench built, then moved to the lift, and the rake is a simple matter of some material trimming befor tacking and welding... I'll have plenty to keep me busy while the hub is out, if not, I'll finish up the 72cc racer, and get a few test runs on her, or wrap up maxxes wiring....maybe throw that 59mm X +2 stroke engine for silver scootin.... got more cams to play with now.... Here's where we are now.... Alwats sumpin', always sumpin' FUN!

Are you planning on a little more rake to it?

Yes, the rake, or lack thereof, was referenced in the text of my last post. To be exact, it is just sitting there at 26 degrees. 32 degrees will be the final assy figure though.... just a little more trimming and fitting before tacking and welding.
Thanks Gary.

Gary Ya, he is one of those guys that you always wish lived next door so you could go pick his brains if you need to and that ask for a tip on how to be creative about fixing a problem. Whenever I get creative, the phrase "ugly but stout" comes to mind.

Then again, I could leve it basiclly the way it is, shallow neck anglr, and reverse the lower legs to gain a raked tree efect, by adding the rake below the pivot. Kinda like putting more castor in a car front end. Light steering, superior hig speed tracking....
besides, if it doesn't do what I want, I can always cut it apart and start over on the front....
Yup, think I'll reverse the lower legs, leading axle, caliper forward in a cooling air stream.
Gonna be an interesting week!
