I was always told that you only use a gasket once, other wise you will be changing it out again because it will fail. I have heard of people spraying them with things like copper coat and using them over, but it would be a gamble.

I'll spray a new metal shim gasket, and use it, but that is the initial use. Once a gasket has been compressed, it is useless to me, except as a tool. For certain operations I'll use a used, compressed gasket torque to a very minimal figure like 8ft/lbs, to help in checking cylinder volume, or something of that nature.
I've even been known to replace a head gasket, during a cam change...
But once used as intended, never again.

Got 'em today Kliff. I've never seen valve springs before, but they look great!

Hang around long enough, and you're gonna end up seeing a whole lot more than just valve springs! LOL

I'd suggest finding a non running motor or scooter and just taking it apart bit by bit, keep a manual nearby, take it apart according to the way it suggests, see if you can find out what is wrong with it or just build it up an then see if you can get it to run, you'll learn a lot doing that.

LOL - like you need another one Kliff! That, and we've established shipping would be a PITA to get it to you anyway. As an FYI - the thing still has me confused. Runs great at less than WOT, just have to top off the oil for what it's blowing out the breather. Those rings are probably shot and need replaced. I'm hoping the crap that came out was from the manufacturing process. My wife won't tolerate me tearing the bike down again at home, and paying someone else to do it when it might not be fixable is unappealing.

Doug in San Diego and I installed our cams and valve springs yesterday without issue. My A9 cam from Carlos is installed, Doug's A12 is back in. It took HOURS to get all of the plastics back on my scooter. I've never broken it down that far, and I really have no desire to ever do that again. The designers of the il bello should be shot for the stupid way the plastics fit on that scooter.
Anyways, my scooter runs very smoothly. But I do not perceive any performance increases from the A9 cam. Even though I recently went from a main jet of 130 to a 150, I think I am still way lean so I might not be able to see the performance gains until I go up to a 160 or so. When I took my head off yesterday my plug was snow white with a 150.
When I took my head off I was shocked to find that the diameter of the exhaust port was less than 24mm! Ick. Using the wrong bits, I tried to port match it just a little with my 1 1/4" exhaust flange. I didn't get it that large, but the exhaust port is now about 26mm. It isn't polished, it isn't pretty, but at least it is opened up a little. The intake on the head is riddled with these bumps which I assume to be "burs." I didn't have the time or the dremel bits to de-bur them so I left the intake on the head alone.
I figured with opening up the exhaust port and the A9 cam that I would have a gain in performance. At least it is running smoothly and I do not have any oil leaks from the engine. Using the head gasket from PFS that Kliff pointed me to is working like a charm.
I have photos to share. I'll post those later when I get off of work.
Kliff, what tips on a dremel do you use to cut into an aluminum head? I assume you might use several so I am interested in what is required. I need to tell my wife what to put in my Christmas stocking.

I wonder if your stock cam was actually an A9
