The cub clones have a spot in my garage any time, well after it gets cleaned out from the move. I have it on good authority that one of the importers is going to be offering a 125cc version with a dual range tranny perhaps in December, anybody remember the trail 90/110? it was a great little bike.

As kliff said I was trolling the web and I came across a seller's name I never saw before. When I clicked on it this came up, www.americanmopeds.com/scooters-mopeds-50cc-150cc-180cc-250cc/moped-scooter-50cc-electric-start-air-cooled.htmlChinese, mini Honda Cub copies. My wife happened to be walking by and saw them over my shoulder and decided they would be perfect for my two stepsons to get around. 50cc, no license required , no insurance in this state and big gas mileage. We ordered last Friday and they're supposed to come today (Friday) exactly a week later. Auto clutch and bang shift according to the pictures just like a Cub or the new Symba, except smaller and probably cheaper made. I'll let you know. I figure my stepsons are the perfect test subjects since they're as gentle on things as a hammer. I'll let you know how everything else goes with this outfit since their prices are pretty decent, even with shipping added. Oh, and I followed kliff's advice and called and got a human on the phone. Since I was buying two, they only charged me one shipping fee. I got the pair for $600 apiece instead of $700.

Just finished assembling and checking youngest stepson's Cub. It's kinda like a Honda Cub only with the 50cc motor. Drums front and rear, steel tube backbone with gas tank hanging off under the front. He took it on its maiden voyage and was pretty happy, slam shifting all over the yard. The engine sounds much bigger than it is and is still very tight. I let it run for a few miles and then changed out the oil. I still have to check the valves but it runs and idles well so I figured I'd do the two of them once they're unboxed.
It's put together pretty well by, get this, Bashan. The EPA sticker indicates it came from Bashan Motorcycle Company US. With all this TaoTao, Znendirect and now Bashan, it seems that Chinese companies are starting to stake out more official presence in the United States.
I'll post pictures as I have them.

Nice looking, but the ones I got have footpegs, directionals, horn and an on/off switch for the headlight. I tried it out and it's hard to get used to shifting without a clutch. You have to roll off the throttle alot for best shifts, both up and down.

Nice. That link is saying $539.00 shipped now. I have been looking at that type of moped forever, but they are always $800-$1000 delivered when I see 'em. I stuck that in my bookmarks.
Regarding the clutchless shifting, it depends on the clutch. There seem to be different versions in those engines. I had a couple of clutches that would slip if you shifted WOT and a couple that will pull the front wheel if you shift at WOT. Theya re great when you get the grippy version. I used Mobil 1 Racing 4T in my engines and that seemed to help the ones that wouldn't grip a little, don't expect much though.
The Tomos is a totally different beast. It uses a 2 stroke engine and an automatic 2 speed. You can get 70cc kits, pipes, sprockets, etc... for them... but you can swap in a GPX engine for the other style shown here that can be bored and stroked to something like 176cc ;D!

Very much a Honda Cub like bike. SYM is a better maker of bikes than your Chinese bikes normally are. Do they offer it in a 125 also?
