For a long time (pretty much since working with Doug to do the banner for "ItIsTheRide") I've stayed at that site. I just do not enough time for being active on more than one, and ItIsTheRide being the "successor" to Scooter Rebels, with many of the same members, I just stayed there.
Well... I stayed there too long.
A couple of the members made it their personal missions to trash me whenever possible. I got sucked in and returned their "favors" and my reward was having my account disabled.
So... "The Old Chopper Guy" bids farewell to my good fiends on the site. They will be sorely missed... the trolls will not.
I'm not going to be very active anymore. Past experience has taught me to keep my mouth shut and be a spectator. "The old philosopher" is gone. So, if I'm not unwelcome here, you'll see me now and then.
It is a shame when the bullies and trash-talkers drive away sincere, long-time members, but it happens.
Not much has changed in my life in 3 years... LOL! I've turned 70, my health is going south along with that of my missus... and I finally traded in the old Chinese Xingyue 150 on a well-used '07 Kymco Grandvista 250 which I absolutely love! I can finally keep up with the 60-mph traffic on the 45-mph surface streets, AND can run 75 on the freeway. Unfortunately 75 isn't REALLY enough... but I can sneak onto the limited-access when needed, if I hide in the slow lane and watch my six.
I must say it's good to see the Reb flag again. All this business that it's a "racist" symbol is wearing REALLY thin in Texas. I still enjoy my coffee in the "Reb" and "Daisy" mugs!
So... Yee-HAA!
If I'm still welcome here, I'm back. If not, no hard feelings for sure.
Ride safe, one and all,
Leo in Texas

we need pics of your "old chopper". i was in surgis last week and some people are kicking around the idea of creating a "chopper museum" there. old choppers rock. oh, and welcome back OCG. Well, boyz n' gurlz... THIS is the ONLY pic of "Old Blue" I've been able to find. Shot in 1962 by a pal with his Kodak "Brownie" camera... LOL! There are a few others SOMEWHERE, but I've yet to find them.
This was a very special ride, as I built it for outlaw street-racing. OK, I admit it: I was a VERY bad boy... At the track, she regularly turned impressive times in the elevens. What memories this old pic brings back! But... Today, it's arthritis and flat-floor scooters for me. In that pic, I was 16... 6' 2" and 375 pounds of brain-dead teenage macho... Today, I'm under 6' 1" and 230 pounds of older-but-wiser old geezer... A few years of riding that hard-tail shortened my spine by over an inch... Ouch! But... I still LOVE that "wind on my knuckles". This bike, and the times she turned started all the bullying on the other site. I got called a liar, and other unpleasant names, and, CHEESH, my posts were just for fun for the old-timers to enjoy, and the newbies to get a kick out of. It turned into a "Perry Mason" brouhaha with me being TRASHED. When I actually found the original time-slips in a 50-year-old toolbox and posted them, it proved my detractors wrong, and they absolutely destroyed me... So, forgive me if I'm shy about details. I just had the most unpleasant time of my on-line life about her... LO not so L... "Old Blue" was a classic of classics 1950's/60's style bobber. 1957 hard-tail, pan-head Duo-Glide with the "rare" adjustable trail-fork and foot-shift with "mousetrap" hand-clutch. That magnificent Hog motor appears like it's mostly all chrome... because it IS mostly all chrome! LOL! Engine and tranny were built by Triangle of Chicago (at my request, a full-on top-fuel motor detuned just enough to run pump-gas) the bike was built by yours truly in my Dad's garage... Oh, Martha, YOU shoulda heard them STRAIGHT-PIPES cackle! OMG, be still my beating heart! Thanks for welcoming me back! I was never really "gone" as I've always thought of both sites as "sister sites" and just stayed with the newer one. In my 70-year-old life, it's now scooters from here on. And SCOOTER REBELS is all about SCOOTERS!

that pic is the definition of "bad assness", wow!!!!!!!!!!!! Many thanks! That is a swell compliment! Yeah, "Old Blue" was a classic. Gee, somehow I seem SO much bigger back then... LOL! Those were tall "ape-hangers" that I was leaning on... How the mighty have fallen... (sigh)...That pic was in her second "build" and though the motor and basic setup was complete, there was one more finished version I've yet to find pix of. She got a better back fender and exhaust, using Sportster muffs (at the request of the local police... LOL!).She also got a Dunlop rib front tire. That rear (Goodyear Grasshopper) was AMAZING! It looks like a knobby, but actually is a round-tread tire with a blocky tread-pattern. It was a forerunner of today's modern round, slick treads with rain-grooves. That old tire gave a little better bite on dirt, yet ran smooth as silk on the road. And, it would hook-up just great at the strip. That front tire WAS a knobby. The only one I had handy in 19" size and I wanted that bike ON THE ROAD! The one-piece seat also was replaced with a classic solo-seat and pillion-pad on the back fender. THOSE mods completed the "proper" bobber credentials... LOL! The final color was Ford "Royal Guardsman Blue" which matched Chevy "Marina Blue" on the tank and fender and the frame was black. Just "standard operating procedure" for the times. But SO nasty! Back then, the term "Fast Harley" was almost an "oxymoron"... It just took TOO much money and effort to get a street-driven Hog to run fast enough to "make it pay". But it WAS possible... HeHeHe...Have a great weekend!Leo in Texas _____________________________________________ PS: I've not heard anything about Doug (Rebel) in a long time. I know he was very ill, and the missus and I have been praying for him, but I am concerned that he may be worse, or even have passed on. I cannot imagine the treatment of members on the "other site" going on if he was still at the helm. Any news of Doug would be appreciated. THANKS!

ocg, please tell us about you mindset and thoughts when you finally parted ways with your rigid chopper. how long ago was it? i would love to hear the story. Bagga, Interesting story... Long, LONG ago... LOL! Must have been around 1966...I only had "Old Blue" for 3 years. First year, she was just a chopper with stock motor (all 37hp worth of pan-head). Next year, she got built. I had the price of a nice home in her, with the intention of paying for it with proceeds from street drag-racing. I actually pulled it off, too! I paid off Triangle Motorcycle over $18-grand for the motor and tranny, and paid off all the chrome and other goodies to the tune of about $22-grand. And that was at a time when an upscale house in Chicago suburbs cost around $12K. A whole LOT of noisy, illegal fun!By the end of the third year, Old Blue's full-on drag motor was getting VERY loose. And, the rear motor mounts on the block were showing cracks. Too much horsepower and too much dragging had taken a fatal toll on the mighty V-twin, and it was going to be only a matter of months before it would need replacing... Too far gone for rebuilding. And I was NOT up for the monumental effort of building another motor, and paying it off. (I just wouldn't be happy with a motor much less "frisky" than the original, and that was not for me) I just wanted a cool ride for a season or two. Reluctantly, NOT wanting to miss a riding season, I traded Old Blue even over for a brand-new BSA Hornet 650. Worst deal I ever made. THAT BSA was the WORST bike I ever owned. Claimed to be a street-licensed full-racer, it was a miserable disappointment. It was NOT fast. It WAS incredibly finicky and trouble-prone. I traded it at the end of the season on another old used Hog, and promptly got drafted... Now the rest of the story of Old Blue. The new owner (and owner of the BSA store where I got the Hornet) was going to ride it for a few weeks until he could rebuild it with a stock motor. Sadly (and I do NOT know HOW anyone could have done this) he drove it straight into a train at an unguarded rural crossing. The accident report said he was doing at least 90 when he T-boned the freight train. There wasn't enough left of the bike or the rider to identify. That's the story... to this day I can't figure out how anyone could T-bone a train. I don't think it was suicide. He was a successful dealer and long-time biker and looking forward to rebuilding the chopper. We all goof up sometimes, and I guess THIS was the mother of all goof-ups. Blood analysis of the remains of the fellow showed no alcohol or drugs... So... It's anybody's guess as to what happened. What a waste of a good dealer, and a whole lot of chrome Harley parts! Ride safe one and all and please do NOT repeat THAT fatal F-up!Leo in Texas

i remember you from the Scootdawg Forum(The Original) i remember Bluefront who died and left his Green Parrot, i wonder where that poor parrot is now and who's taking care of her(the parrot). And also i wonder where Lee the founder , the last time i heard was he had a fight with his girlfriend and just left the forum without any successor to moderate the forum, then the proboard decided to put down the group because they can't pay the dues. Then, there came this guy Earthman, coolhands, and Terry who was marreid to Belladona who has tons of moles in her back. i remember earthman who mixes Boric acid with oil to make his scooter ran faster. i was like ,reeaally? ?? Then another guy, i forgot his name, he is fond of making persimmon jam and pickled okra. ahhhhh! miss those days!!! memries!!!
