Hello to all the rebel's out there in rebelville. I would like to invite you to fallow my new project it is a sun-L 250cc gy6. A friend of mine bought it in 2008 new. he rode 450 miles and then like always one day he was going to ride and it would not start. So he tried to repair it with no luck so it set in his shed for years then one day his wife said it had to go. so I got a phone call and he said come get it you can have it. so I brought her home and she has some issues like a bad solenoid and carburetor issue. the nice thing is I have I solenoid off a old scoot but I may have to buy a carb. it gets gas to the bowl but a no start issue still I can spray carb clean in and it will fire for a sec then die. I checked the vac lines and intake they are all in good shape I'll look at more it this weekend here is a pic.

yes actually I have check fuel pump and its pumping out fuel nicely it fills the bowl and I have cleaned the carb but now I'm thanking it might be the accelerator pump or maybe a air passage blocked if I lightly blow compressed air in the diaphragm port it will rise the needle up and the jets are new I did get a rebuild kit for it and install it but no accelerator pump parts in the kit who knows I may have to buy a new carb

Yeah you'll probably find a new carb is cheaper than you think on ebay.

I understand what you are saying but the carb on these is not the weak spot usually.

the way you described the problem, it looks more like a Petcock issue...if the petcock is shot, the fuel system starts to act abnormal and starts to flood the combustion chamber while trying to attempt to start. try using a fuel shut off valve instead.

thanks for the advice. I have check the petcock it flows nicely. I have found the problem there's a vent tube on the choke side of the carb. it allows air into the bowl to push fuel up through the jets. this vent was clogged now that I have cleaned the port it starts and runs good. so now I plan to paint it and do some cvt work.

Being a CF Moto style engine your parts supply will be good. Even for mods I understand. I like the Linhai (Yamaha) style engines more (just my opinion)but the parts are usually more expensive and not many sources. But that is getting better. PS IMO Chinese carbs are just fine. They work just as good as OEMs. Glad you gotter running though. Good detective work.
