Have you got....the BOOK? Do you understand as much as you should about your scooter to identify defective, from an improper PDI, or maintenance.... Get the book.... www.partsforscooters.com/172-34-Chinese-Taiwanese-Korean-Scooter-Book?sc=12&category=-112I've been turning wrenches for 40+ years, but when I ever so recently, jumped into scooters...I got the book. I also read the book, not just thumbed through looking at the purty pics.... I read it twice. Experience always helps, but even experience can benefit from torque tables, timing marks, etc, and a Novice can use everything this book has and MORE. Get the book.... don't be surprised if when you ask a question, a question is thrown back at you....."Have you got the book?" This is when on line help can get even better, if a printed media, with pics can be discussed.... Get the BOOK!

Well Jr you make sense. You should give your dealer a chance to fix the problem. Here is my beef with that though. I went to a B&M, bought a bike they told me would go 100km and hour, give me 130mpg. Just get on it and go. I was lied too. But buy from a B&M you should have to do nothing then the regular maintenance, oil's, air filter, belt, valves as specified.
I bought this scooter to save money and i will. But i bought it being ignorant, knew nothing about scooters.
If i had to do it all over again after learning what i have, i would order online and fix it all myself since i had to from a B&M.
Just my thoughts Ray

YES YES and YES!!!!!!!!! Buy the book, read the book, use the book. I am the same "vintage" as Kliff 40+ years of experience. There is no substitute for a good manual. No one person can know it all.
This is the same book we use daily, along with Haynes techbook 10452, for Honda, Piaggio, Vespa and Yamaha.
Read and Learn

Sorry for the delay in answering. I have not been around much due to some health issues.
To answer your question, I have yet to find what I would call a good manual for the 250cc Tank. The one we use is the Haynes 10452 TechBook for the 50 to 250cc Honda, Piaggio, Vespa and Yamaha. There is another free online manual that covers the 250 but I am having trouble finding that link again, when I do I will post it.
Happy Scooting

You like that one Jim? That one is a PDF download of a Linhia/yamahama manual This one is an online Honda Helix manual; scooterrebels.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=manualsreadonly&action=display&thread=497There is a reason we employ a large number of people to comb the web bringing the most important resources to our membership, We got to win the WAR! Just kidding, we do appreciate all contributions from out members that find something valuable so that we can make it available to other members.

Rebel, the reason I gave him that link is because the Tank 250 is a Linhia/Yamaha Clone. I did add the link you provided to my bookmarks for further reference, we have yet to have a Honda Helix in for repairs.

Jim,
Great that you've never had to work on an Helix, but, isn't that motor the original for the CFMoto scooters? and a lot of others?

In my neck of the woods there doesn't seem to be many Helixs out there. All of our experience with 250cc scooters have been with the Linhia Clone, both sales and service.

My 250cc Tank is a Honda clone engine. I can't seem to find a good manual for this model. The helix manual has a lot of useful information engine but the layout on everything else is different. One good thing about these Chinese scooters is I don't feel afraid to work on it, If I had invested $6000.00 in a Burgman or Silverwing I think I would feel different. But since I have much less than 1/4th that amount invested in my Tank I find it enjoyable to work on it.

Tank Commander, do you have the touring model or one of the others? I was wondering how similar the 250 touring is to the 150 Touring for the wiring and suspension, wheels, frame......

Mine is a 2006 Tank Urban Touring TK250T-2. I was told it was a Honda clone. I had a 2008 Velocity 150cc that was a Honda clone but this engine is layed out different, maybe because it is water cooled?
