I am 95% sure you have an AC cdi, almost all the 139QMB motors do

With an ac cdi your bike will run with no battery. With a dc cdi your bike won't run with no battery. Kymco tends to run. DC cdi the 2 stroke yamaha vino runs a dc set up also

I ordered one off ebay and it did not wok. <PRIOR to making this post. Assuming its DC fired and even after reading some of the comments here it sounds like it should still work. I don't know. Going with how my scooter does not run with the current box but does with a stock box.
I am returning the CDI I bought and am now looking for a unit most have been known to go with. Only mods I have done are de restriction mods. I also plan to swap out the variator for a better one and rolling weights to sliders. Weights may change once I find out the grams of them and post up my results in the other thread I created.
I am also running a stock coil. Should I stay with it or go with a performance coil.

Really if the stock coil works it is fine to use.

Yeah, the stock cdi is OK too. In the past stock ones often had a Rev limiting circuit so aftermarket ones were better, in reality it is very hard to notice a performance change if you go with so called performance cdi and coil, feel free to get one though you might like it.
