Hey everyone. Well, most of you know that I have a Hyosung MS3 250, and I like the bike. But, after about a year I still don't have mechanical confidence in it. Too many little things are starting to go on it. So, I did some searching and I found a 2007 Kymco Xciting 250 for 1400 from a dealer, and he is throwing in a year warranty on it.
My biggest concern is that it is carbureted, and all of my other bikes are and have been fuel injected. So, I will probably be driving you guys crazy for a bit with carburetor questions...lol.
The Xciting 250 is admittedly under powered, however they have a 300cc bbk that I am planning to order and install. I guess my first question would be this, I know on smaller bikes there is usually carb adjustments needed when a BBK is installed, but on a 250 is that needed?

Yeah, it will be running lean after you put a big bore kit in it, at least it might be.

Well, a little update on the bike. I won't be picking it up until either Saturday or Monday. The dealership that I am getting it from does not let used bikes out of their shop until their head mechanic thoroughly goes over them and fixes everything. It has had all fluids changed (including gas), all filters changed, the carb has been cleaned and adjusted, and I got a call this morning that they are replacing both tires (the front had some dry rot and the rear was starting to cup) and that is why there is a delay (waiting on the new tires to come in).
I have to say that I am really impressed.

Sounds like they are really safety conscious. That should be a good thing.

Yeah, I'm very impressed. And, since my first ride on the bike is going to be the 106 miles from their shop back to my place, I'm glad that they are taking this extra time.

If the tires have dry rot and the bike has been sitting make sure they check the belt, I think the rule of thumb is five years whether its been run or sitting.

Thanks for the heads up on that Flyangler. I asked and they changed that for me too. I'm beginning to really like that place, it's the first time I've had decent service in a bike shop in a LONG time.

Just got back from Rutland where I took delivery of my new (to me) 2007 Kymco Xciting 250. The ride back was around 112 miles, and I have to say that I am VERY impressed with this bike. While my Hyosung is quicker, and faster, the Kymco is a LOT more comfortable, solid and had no problems on the interstate. While the bike is certainly solid, handles great (I love the weight of it, helps with stability), I am going to have to get a bigger windshield. Also, I knew it was a taller seat, but wow, I have to tip toe this thing while stopped. Also, I'm having a problem with the left side mirror, it's loose and keeps drooping down. Going to look at that tomorrow, I'm sure it's just a matter of tightening something up. I cannot say enough about the dealership where I got it (Central Vermont Motorcycles). They changed ALL fluids in the thing (including gas), changed all filters, cleaned and adjusted the carb, put on brand new Michelin City Grip tires (front and back), put in a brand new battery, and even washed the thing before they turned it over. For a used bike, that is the best service I have EVER received from any dealership (both car and bike). Oh, and I thought the bike was grey, but it is some kind of black (it has flecks in it) which is cool. AND, they installed a GIVI trunk mount on it for a Monokey box. All at the original price they quoted me which was below KBB.
