So, I read on a few places that I should change the oil after the first 100 - 200 miles. I'm already over 200 miles, so I scooted over to Auto Zone, picked up some name brand, good quality 10W40 (NON-synthetic) oil and some 90 gear oil. I drained the oil that the scooter came with and boy... was it ever black! I was actually pretty shocked that it would be that dark after just over 200 miles. So, PHEW that I changed it.
Excited to make her sparkly clean inside and out, I went around to the other side to drain the gear oil, but was unable to get the plug screw loose. If I post pics of my gear case, can someone tell me whether or not I'm trying to unscrew the right screw? Also, how much gear oil do I put back in? None of the videos or tutorials said how much I should add back in.
Also, at the store, they had 10W40 regular oil and 10W40 4 stroke oil. What's the difference? I got the 4 stroke kind to be on the safe side, but it was a couple of bucks more. But, I'm wondering what the difference is.

Regular and four stroke, i have no idea.
When you fill the gear oil just fill it up to the level ofthe fill hole. At least that is what I was always told.

Rebel, do you have a service manual for his model? I know you linked me to one for my Hyosung (and it has been a life saver)and I used it just yesterday when changing my oil (900 ml with filter change).

4 stroke oil is usually suitable for motorbike with wet clutch and as a scooter doesnt have a wet clutch its a waste of money. I read the labels

I bet you even read assembly instructions, too Just to give everyone an update - I was finally able to change the gear oil, too. It might be my imagination, but it seems to run even better with oil changed. I think that has more to do with me being super happy that I was able to get it done, more than any actual change in scooter function.
