Hi all, I need to trailer my scooter to SC from NJ. I have a 2011 Camry. I'd like to know what kind of trailers you use. Any help would be appreciated.

Well my trailer wouldn't work for you 7 12 enclosed with a brake axle Look at Harbor Freight and get one with at least 12 in wheels You have to watch it I think your car is only rated for 1000 lbs and it will reduce your interior cargo passenger weight

When I purchased mine I had to trailer it a couple hundred miles back to my place in Vermont. I just used a flatbed trailer and ratchet strapped it down. It was in the middle of a snow storm and I had no problems.

I have a 5x8 utility trailer that works well. Then a I tow it with a truck but you should be able to tow a trailer like it with your car. The local U Haul would be happy to install a hitch and rent a trailer to you.

U Haul gave me trouble when I wanted to rent one to tow behind my old GMC Jimmy as well, they don't like SUV's in general.

I checked with uhaul and another place. They both suggested a 4*6 flatbed. I just wanted opinions from experts like yourselves before I went ahead with it.
Thanks again...

That's what I did, 6 foot flat bed and ratchet straps. Had no problems. Just make sure that you stop after around 50 to 60 miles to make sure that they are still tight, and check them every time you stop for gas.

The only problem I have had with ratcheting tie downs is having them wear through at a contact point. If they are not rubbing the strap one something they work really well, if the strap rubs it wears through.

Folded towels work good to fix that. There are also other tricks you pick up after years of expediting.

Yeah, I've padded the strap but if going hundreds of miles I would try to just get rid of the friction point. On my trailer after a 200 mile trip and several rub throughs, I drilled holes and put some of those spring loaded clevis clips in the holes so I had a better place to hook up to in the future.
