If there is no leak that you can see check your pads to make sure there not wore down too much Could be a bad seal in the master or caliber if the pads are good

Yeah, as pads wear down the fluid level drops. May be all you need to do is put some fresh brake pads on it.

As to the short, I was sort of having the same problem with my Hyosung. I took the plastics off the handle bars and noticed one of the connectors for the wiring (think it was with the break wires) was loose. Reconnected, then secured the connector together with electrical tape and haven't had a problem since.
It may not be there, but perhaps it is a loose connector. I have found with my Hyosung it's the simple stuff that I don't even think to check (I usually expect the worst) that is usually the culprit (that loose connector, blown fuse...etc).

if you just replace brake pad when you lever the caliper pistons back the fluid will return to the reservior I run an earth wire between both sets of switches on the bars and another earth from that wire to the battery I have also shifted the starter solenoid closer to the battery so its got a 10 inch battery cable less voltage drop I have a friend that tells me my scooters are easy to start
