to rule out the start switch if you know what wire is the trigger wire for the starter you could check for power always being on at that point
or you could just unplug the switch and leave the solenoid hooked up
i would lean more towards a bad starter switch then a bad solenoid
normally when solenoids go out you have to jumper them to get the starter to work

I just changed out the starter switch and solenoid , and got a clear off and on from the switch with a flukie tester, but intuition tells me there is still something up like a alreadty burned out almost new , but built wrong regulator.
I want to thank bashon at SD for building a whopper of a PM to me about this and also pray his forgiveness for the even longer irrelevant note I sent back to him.
not to mention my caveman spelling
I live in the low lands of south Carolina and we are getting our warm rain fog don't dare go out there unless you want to meet the wolf man weather.
if it will start button start tomarrow it surly is fixed.
thanks jmkjr72 RIDE SAFE AND WISE EVERY BODY

The Draw is too much for the stator to compensate for so the lights would go dim

do you mean by this the battery has gone down so low it drains the whole system sucking for a re charge?

No I think he is saying your charging system can not keep up with your demand. have you got any extra things that need power, did you put in a upgrade to the headlight? You can find some LED's for the tail lights and turn signals and that might help a little. A leakage like a hot wire touching ground someplace would do it as well, that would probably cause the wire to heat up and melt something though.

Jesus what a night mare this crap has been.
