I have been lucky in that the many miles i ride are of very few stops,
But dawns on me i am way over due to over haul pads etc.
I want to remove old pads that are way over due for change.
does anyone know of a u tube or the like that shows a break down
of pad removal, which i need to do ASAP.

terra
just go to youtube. i found a bunch of generic ones but really dont know what kind of scoot you have
are they both disc?
im pretty sure, and youtube generic tube will work
i did it 2 years ago--not hard, but like anything you do the 1st time it seems frustrating and hard.

remove caliper remove old pads retract piston(make sure to do it evenly and make sure it goes in all the way put new pads in put caliper back on with new pads in it(see below if it doesnt want to slide back together nice) some times its easier to remove the front wheel to get things back together other option would be to take the disc loose from the wheel
make sure pads stay in place
pump brakes at least a dozen times before you ride then move slow in the drive way and make sure the brakes you just replaced work then i make sure they will hold a load (give it some throttle while holding the front brake i you did the fronts) then take a nice gentle test ride then a couple of harder stops to help seat and bed in the pads

I don't even know what a caliper is.

The caliper is what the pads get squeezed by, it is like a hydraulic "C" clamp. The brake fluid pushes a piston on one side. It is the silver thing the guy is holding in the video.
Be careful about spilling brake fluid, it will eat paint and plastic, rubber is resistant.

I desire most, things that are made to last and don't subtract me from what i would be normally doing, so i don't have to stop and fix something.
it was amazing to me how at about 15,000 miles everything on this 16 inch tire hi-Ped had to be changed out except lite sockets.
but i am told today these brakes still have a good 5000 miles on them.
I do long miles with few stop lights but many turns.
Henry ford used to walk his junk yards looking at old ford parts to see what he was making too well.
I know the Chinese must do the same thing
refitting the whole bike tires and all cost about 1500.00, with mail expenses,,, but i bought mostly better everything.
