YOU HAVE TO BE CARFUL DOING THIS
I close my seat on power cord with just enough cord to hang over cooling intake.
I give it a 1/2 hour at low speed.
this makes engene starting worlds easyier,
it also begins to heat up gas intake throat which is a large part of warming up bike, as a warm throat pre heats gas UP to something closer to a vapor..
NEVER DO THIS AND COVER BIKE WITH A TARP, FUMES MAY BUILD UP AND BLOW YOU UP.Attachments:

I had a diesel truck that had a block heater so that on cold nights I could plug it into the power and it would be pre-warmed and much easier to start in the morning. It warmed up the coolant and by default the motor.

BROTHER
I know i post some crazy stuff in the minds of many, but believe me
any one who does this for a half an hour, is gonna find a very friendly bike to start.
one thing that disapperes is the bucking un even idle so common in winter.
much of a good idle is warm gas to the piston.
warmer gas burns better period.
and this takes a lot of wear off the bike, as warm oil protects better
AND REMEMBER FOLKS YOU SAW IT HERE AT SCOOTER REBELS WERE FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS GO TO ANOTHER FORUM
OK I AM CRAZY, but i think it is a ok crazy.
I think.

what i did last winter for Chrissy was 2 things 1st i tried putting a small space heater, right under the engine { now dont forget Chrissy is in a tent and has a m/c cover over her}
that worked great
i also tried the light bulb thingy took my seat bucket out and hung a light bulb in there i used a 40w one. you gotta be careful that it hangs perfect and doesnt touch anything.
but since heat rises, i went with the space heater. 1 hour before heading out, id go set it up and turn it on. when i was ready leave all the metal around the bottom of the engine was warm to the touch, the oil was good {pre ride oil check} and always started
so if u have a way to use the space heater, like your bike is in a cover or shed or w/e, and can get a electrical cord there

Well now that i've lost most of my hair on top, but still have the ol HD. I might give this a go... heck why not. --------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Doug, a while back i seen some magnetic block heaters just for scooters,ATV,M/C... etc.. cant find the link, but from what i remember they had pretty good reviews. Oh ya and seen the Dip-Stick heaters over at the parts house a few week's ago, kinda long for a scooter, but i think they where around $10.00 or so.

The right size dip stick heater might do well.

what might work well would be an adheasive reptile tank heater they are smaller then the heater that you put under a car battery and would proably be small enough to attach to the underside of the case hide the cord up under the floor board untill you need to plug it in

I thought about those, do they put out enough heat to compensate for a cold garage?
