I can feel a big difference when im drafting even another scooter. Uncles Kymco and my scoot both top out at about the same speed(usually 55-60 range), so we will draft each other to keep the lead. The other day we were on a long flat smooth country road when i couldnt pass him. I was drafting him until i was so close our tires were about to start rubbing then i would move out to pass but couldnt, everytime i moved over to pass i would loose the speed i had when i pulled out of the draft. I could cruise behind him with throttle to spare at 50+ but as soon as i moved out of the draft i was full throttle again trying to pass.

You gotta do a slingshot pass, not just regular drafting if you want the best shot of overtaking someone. You have to figure out how far back you can stay in the slipstream to draft and go WOT from that point to the closest point that you can pull out of the draft. Be careful how close you get those tires when you are going faster than him especially (I don't think bump drafting would be a great idea on scooters). Once you pull out you might get a very slight side draft to give you some assistance if you stay close enough. Not sure the side draft works with another scoot, but I can tell you that sometimes I can pick up one or two MPH when a car is in the right position beside me. Once again, don't get too close or you'll both slow down from the friction of your body sliding across the pavement. See, watching NASCAR does teach you something lol.
