I'm not aware of a parking brake, but that does not mean one does not exist there. I was just thinking the brake may be locked up tight and need to be closed up so it will let the wheel move.

yeah rear wheels with intergratd drums wont come off with the brakes on as the shoes expand to drag on the drum
try to take a dead blow mallet and tap on the drum part of the rim and see what happens
it proably sat with the brake lock on and every thing inside is rusted up some times you can get lucky and when you hammer on it the old shoes break up and you can get the drum off

I have a 87 honda elite 150, if you press down on rear break peadle to the floor at the same time press the brake release button to reset the brake cable lever, you may have to pump the rear brake peadle with you hand to get it to release. Once done then readjust rear tension on back wheel.

You may wind up soaking it with penetrating oil, the linkage and arm you are referring to. Check the suggestions from sailorman since he owns one.

i brought my map gas torch from work and heated rear brake cam and drum. put a 6 inch pipe wrench on cam and tapped, cam moved enough to free wheel slightly, several dead blows and the wheel is off , yeah, cam and springs rusted badly inside. pads are still on drum not assy

Careful with a torch on aluminium. If the piston is frozen, I suggest Marvel Mystery Oil. Let it soak.

Heat on aluminum is very tricky. Aluminum does not get red when it is hot, it just melts and then you are in trouble, sometimes it will just vaporize. You can warm it but try not to get it hot.
I was playing with an aluminum can once a long time ago, it seemed to just burn, gave off a gas that got me choked up long enough to be concerned that I was going to survive.

It is all the same restoration project, you can keep it all here if you like. Or start another thread for the different systems you are working on if you think it would get confusing.
Pictures are always nice.
