Aww right! I'll be looking forward to you adding to this knowledge base. Yuo've done some impressive stuff in the past and I'm sure if anybody can get this to work right, you'd be one of them.

Thanks Rebel. We will have to see how well this works out I suppose... I will make sure to document the installation and any issues I run accross so that others can learn too. I have always been intrigued by EFI, tuning an engine via a computer appeals to me at some basic level. Probably because I have been working with computers all my life

I guess Roy got back into it sooner than he thought, another post was made. I'm getting close to starting this thing up. here is a few more photo,s. The fuel filter, shut off valve and pump.I drilled out vacuum petcock and installed manual valve. The fuel line has a good down hill slant, so fuel should flow good to the pump. I mounted the ECU and relay to the frame just under the seat latch. I have just enough room behind the seat bucket. I'm trying to keep every thing neatey tidey. This is an over view ov it all. more to follow. I still need to connect key switch wire and ignition sensor wire. Roy

well I tried to start the engine. It tries to start but will not run. I am having trouble installing software on my computers. I've tried 2 different laptops and a desktop. I tried to download the software from their website but it downloads a pdf. going to call Matt @ Ecotrons tomorrow and find out why the software will not install correctly. I think it will run if I get the software loaded on my laptop and am able to tune the Ecu.
Roy
The fuel pump comes on for about 3 seconds when I turn the key on. I'm thinking something else is wrong with engine. I'm gonna tear it apart again and check. Because the last time it tried to start it made a clunking noise. I still haven't got the software to install. It copies 7 files then tells me files on my system are out of date. It asks if I want setup to install the files then to restart. but it don't install them. I've tried compatibility mode also.
Roy
I didn't set it up using the ecu to control the cdi. When I talked with Matt he said that most cdi's control the timing and the ecu controls the timing so they would conflict. I didn't get a cdi with the kit matt said it was an optional. Their cdi does not control the timing so will not conflict with the ecu. I'm going to have Matt send me one of their cdi's though.

I did have the engine running before I started the EFI install. I got around to tearing into it, and this is what I found. This is a new rocker arm assembly I ordered from scrappy. It was torqued down to 15 ft lbs. Yes I use a torque wrench. Now I gotta tear the case apart to find the broken bits. Roy

He is smart to tear it all down and look for the missing chunks of metal. I think I'd put the original parts back in it. Might be smart to put a magnetic oil drain plug in it too.

I have gotten my Ecotrons EFI kit and am starting to plan the installation. Stay tuned for a build thread.

Update "here is the latest. I tore the engine completely down to make sure there was no fragments of the broken rocker arm assembly in the crank case. I decided to put a new 72cc piston, jug and stock head back on as I discovered a bent intake valve on the big valve head. I still haven't got the o2 sensor bung welded to the exhaust yet. The engine wouldn't start with the EFI on it. So I put the carb. back on. It started and ran good. Test rode it yesterday and put about 50 miles on it. I then put the EFI back on and still no start. I think the (60g/min) injector is to big for this engine as it seems to rich. If I open the throttle it tries to start. I pulled the plug and it is wet with fuel. I'm going to talk to Matt about getting a smaller injector. Maybe able to reduce the amount of fuel with the software but not sure yet. Failure is not an option, it will run. Roy" "I just talked to Matt. He sent me the latest version of ProCal. He also suspects that it might be a bad sensor. I have to install the new software and try to record it running, (if I get it running) and send him the results so he can figure it out. I ain't giving up yet. Roy"
