i have a cousin that lives in long beach (LA) and she was/is concerned about the water supply there. you're in no cal tho....i think. i've been watching the national radar and it looks like the no cal is getting lots of rain this year. how far north does LA get the water from? www.weather.gov/Radarthe salton sea is what's polluting the water line from parker dam, to hoover dam and some water channels going to california, the Salton sea used to be a tourist destination, i dunno what had happened, if you go even 2 miles near the salon sea, you'll immediately smell the stinky dead fish that's decaying along the lakeshore, yuck!!, i know sometime before, that's where we use to do some scooter gathering, el centro and brawley, ...Medman used to live in el centro, right doug?... Please say hi to all people in the SD, i still have my yamaha morphous, but got into another car hobby. so i don't frequent my other scooter forums.. but i miss ya'll. ,i miss Rich to be honest... and all yah guys..

I believe the fish smell is that the Salton Sea is very high saline content getting higher due to deposits and the freshwater river when it rises every now and then brings fish into the saltwater to their death. It used to be a big tourist/vaca home town if I'm correct idk I don't live there but I heard I think was it that that was a ghots town around there?

Well having been raised near the Salton sea and having g9ne fishing, swimming and boating there many years ago, I have some personal knowledge of it.
The sea is about 200 or more feet below sea level and could never send salty water up stream to pollute anything, 8t is a dead sea with no outlet. What feeds water into it now is irrigation run off and the Capitol City of the Mexican State of Baja California dumps raw sewage into it the city is Mexican and the population is a million people or much more now.
People that live near the sea stopped using it for recreation years ago. The sea has shrunk in size and is getting more concentrated in salinity. When I was a kick there were several scams to remove the salt but none were ever tried. At 9ne time it was actually a salt mine the Colorado had deposited enough silt to create a dam and water stopped flowing into that basin and the water dried up after eons, then a even happen to break the dam and sea water from the gulf of Baja california flowed into the area for a while. If I remember things correctly.

the bay of green bay will warm up near the city of green bay but if you want to go swimming in lake michigan any where on the east coast of wisconsin you will experience shrinkage like never before.

Well I don't know what smell at the Salton sea you are referring to but when the weather warms up there the locals used to blame it on the fact that Mexican run its raw sewage into it. The smell was strongest at the southern end of the sea where the New River dumps into it. The New River also carried the sewage from Mexico into the SS.

Yeah as boy scouts we had some kayaks the Troup had made and we spent the week end camping in a park there and doing water sports in the sea. Honestly in the 60's it was a cleaner body of water, still many times the salinity of the ocean.
