Hi! First thanks to all who helped with my past compression problem. This scoot is giving me grief with an idling problem. I've thoroughly cleaned the carb and all seems well there. Replaced the fuel filter and plug too. I am wondering if the throttle valve can be my problem. The scooter will only idle at a high setting. Throttle response is ok but as soon as I set the idle down it dies. Any thoughts? Thanks, Capt 1992

Welcome back, I did not see where you posted the results of your last problem and what fixed it.
Idle issues can often times be from a vacuum leak, but the 2 T guys would be nice to hear from on this. I'm sure one will be along to offer more expert advice.

The loss of compression was caused by a circlip getting loose and doing all kinds of damage. I ended up doing a top end replacement. I was lucky to get the loose circlip out of the crankcase.....it was just laying there all mangled up. Again, thanks to all who responded.

it could be a vacume leak
is your carb seated properly in the intake is your intake sealed properly to the reed block/case is your airfilter properly attached to the carb and is your air box properly closed
this is where i would start assuming you have a fresh plug

if you can get it to idel at all then you can spray starting fluid in the area around the carb and intake and listen for it to rev up
on other thing i forgot to ask about where is your a/f screw set at i have seen them come loose

Finally got a chance to try all the suggestions I got here on the forum. I couldn't find any vacuum leak at all at the intake manifold or reed block/case. When I checked out the air/fuel adjusting screw it got interesting. Upon a close examination with the scooter running I found that when I went to full throttle gas would blow out of the hole on the front of the carb that is controlled by the air/fuel screw. This happened even with the air/fuel screw fully closed. With my finger over the hole it idled better and the full throttle rpms were better too. I guess a new a/f screw would help but I don't understand why fuel blew out of the hole. Seems like all that vacuum would pull everything in. Any thoughts?

I think I would take the carb off and open it up. Sounds strange that fuel would come out there.

the seat or the crew is damaged is why you would get fuel blowing past it

Yeah Rebel, they usually do. Screw. spring, washer, o-ring. In that order.

The screw definitely is the one with o ring. I'm going to pull the carb and open it up and see if there is anything I can easily spot wrong with it. If not, I might try putting a new one on it.

i would ask them what size it is and if its guaranteed to be jeted properly for a stock scoot as i have seen those engines run stock any where from a 12 mm carb up to a 17 mm carb
