Yeah.....sorry, I don't do stock...
And once again, applause for GSMotorWorks! 5 days including the weekend from the time I orderred, till it was/is in my possession. I will be orderring from these folks again.
but now... she's hear...
The following does NOT, and is NOT meant to reflect negatively on GSMW, Eagle, or the Chinese scooter industry.... it is what it is, and the reason we do PDI is to correct assmbly line short comings, be it Chinese scooters, or H-D motorcycles. Ain't NONE of them perfect outta the box, and a thorough PDI will only add to your future scooting enjoyment.
NGK Iridium, first thing, good thing too, the Torch was barely tight, would have come loose shortly. Don't forget to use anti-seize compound on the plug threads either!
Check your valve adjustments too... the intake was as near perfect .004" as I've ever felt....the exhaust.....welll, let's call it a "super tight" .003"... I readjusted it to a svelt .005", and will recheck at 300 miles.
You know....there is a lot of unnecessary plumbing in here...and it makes pulling the valve cover a real pain....hmmm, looks like the old fashioned reed valve air injection pollution whatchamacallit...
Let's make a "plug" for here.... press fit in the head, about .0015" interference.
Cut the metal tube off the two flanges, and reinstall with the metal plug in the head, and a rubber plug and cap on the Valve Cover reed assy.... Later, when time allows, I'll mill that monstrousity of the valve cover completely.
So far the discard pile is growing....
Tomorrow, I'll be installing the American fuel lines, a mechanical ball valve for a manual fuel valve, and a larger than OEM fuel filter...stay tuned. And while waiting....the battery, SEALED batery.....is charging overnight. Gonna throw on a battery tender harness too...
So far the PDI is going well, with just a few small noted deficiencies... found another today, at a gang harness plug...
Looks a little wop sided, huh. Found the strain on the harness, cured that, plugged it in properly, and added some silicon to the sides, as a "safety pin" to hold it togetther, as I did to all the connectors under the front cowl.
From there, I went on to a couple of mods...fabricated a dash for the Daytona Digital Tach...
Then installed the tach, and Kuryakyn LED Volt meter...
And srta buttonned up the front, fender, cowl, mirrors, oh, put the air cleaner assy back on. Looks like I'll wrap it up tomorrow.
And more kudos to GSMotorWorks.... Bill of Sale, and MSO came in today! Insurance and registration TOMORROW!
This has been a great 4 day stretch. Finished the PDI today, Dad has been in the shop some this week, "Scootin'" is insured and plated. Absolutely GREAT.
Did notice one thing on the initial road test.... she just felt, sorta, stopped up. Other than removing some unwanted parasitic tubing, all I did was raise the carb needle .020".... hmmmm, she does feel sorta stopped up....let's unstop her a little, cost is free, time about 5 minutes....
two 25/64" holes, added.
Oh yeah....another short test ride, and trhe idle had to be lowerred from 2400rpm, to 1500rpm. Loosenning up nicely, very throttle responsive now. But this stock speedo has got to be a joke! I gotta take the GPS out, ain't no way, I'm beleiving this thing! I only WISH it were true, but I ain't no fool....
But back to reality....she's home, in service, and I'm happier than should be allowed. 30km ride home(18 mi), and I wanted to go more, but chores, and the dawgs, called.....lol.
Thanks for listning guys, and thanks for all the kudos. Sorry I didn't respond to everyone individually....but 2 fingerred typing is a real bi#@*...well ou know what I mean.( ie. all the guys on ScootDawgs.com) Hope y'all enjoyed the read, as much as I enjoyed the PDI and minor mods.
